Welcome to the website of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) and the Blind River Community Liaison Committee (BRCLC). The BRCLC are members of the Blind River community appointed by the council December 2012 to act as liaison between the town and the NWMO. We encourage, welcome and invite YOU to engage and participate in meetings and information sessions.
The BRCLC and NWMO hope to provide many opportunities in Blind River for citizens to learn about Canada’s plan for the long-term care of used nuclear fuel and the process being implemented to identify an informed and willing community to host the project. This is a great opportunity to learn and to involve themselves in advancing this important national infrastructure project.
It is important to note that the Blind River Council has made no commitment beyond expressing an interest in learning about the plan. The community can drop out of the process at any point. Before a preferred host community is identified for the project, citizens – at a grassroots level – will be required to demonstrate willingness in a compelling way.
The Community Liaison Committee invites you to become involved and learn more so that Blind River can make informed decisions.
